EU Integration, rule of law, political parties and democratization
Albana Merja is a Senior Research Fellow at GLPS. Her work focuses on issues of EU integration, political parties and democratization. Her research includes topics such as the EU policy of conditionality towards Kosovo, visa liberalization and the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA). She has also worked on issues related to the performance of the judiciary in light of the international standards on free and fair trial, as well as issues related to the international rule of law mission in Kosovo.
Before joining GLPS, Albana worked as the Head of Department at the General Directorate of Standardization in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy in Albania. She also worked as an intern at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, and Equal Opportunities in Albania. Albana holds a BSc in Political Science from the University of Tirana, Albania, and an MA in Contemporary European Politics from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom.
