On 18 March, Group for Legal and Political Studies (GLPS) held a Roundtable Discussion on the topic: “Fulfillment of the SAA Objectives: Special Emphasis on Competition”, held in Prishtina. The aim of this event was to discuss the significance that free competition has on the well-functioning of the market in Kosovo. During the discussion, GLPS presented the results stemming from the monitoring process of National Programme for the Implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (NPISAA) and the European Reform Agenda (ERA), with special emphasis on the competition area. At the beginning of the discussion, GLPS presented a Policy Analysis titled “Introducing the Concept of Private Enforcement in Competition Law” which elaborates on the protection of competition in the European Union through private enforcement. The analysis also reflects on how this mechanism can be incorporated, in the future, towards protecting market competition in Kosovo. Panelists jointly agreed that the concept of private enforcement in competition law is rather new and unknown, while they highly welcomed a discussion in this regard.
