GLPS held a Roundtable Discussion on the topic: “Kosovo – Serbia Dialogue: New Year, Old Challenge”

February 4, 2019

On February 4, Group for Legal and Political Studies (GLPS) held a Roundtable Discussion on the topic: “Kosovo Serbia Dialogue: New Year, Old Challenge”, held in Prishtina. The aim of this event was to discuss on the development, direction, and expectations of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue for year 2019.  Within the framework of series of debates on the final phase of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, GLPS aims to offer a platform to discuss some of the key issues that have recently triggered a vast public debate, and to gather all political parties in reaching a comprehensive consensus. The dialogue is approaching its final stage, nonetheless, it continues to be accompanied with uncertainty over the format and specific that the final agreement would entail. Considering this and the lack of the political consensus on the issue, GLPS considers that it is of utmost importance to raise a public discourse on the issue.

During the discussion, GLPS presented the third of a series of policy notes on the Dialogue, which focuses on the emergent approach of both parties to reach a final agreement. Based on the predictions for the forthcoming European Parliament elections, the stances of the main EU countries, as well as the role that the United States and Russia play in this issue, this note aims to provide a view on the raised questions regarding the timing of the final agreement.

  1. Glauk Konjufca – Chair of the Parliamentary Group, LVV;
  2. Visar Ymeri – Member of the Parliament, PSD;
  3. Bilall Sherifi – Chair of the Parliamentary Group, Nisma;
