On 8 December 2016, Group for Legal and Political Studies (GLPS), Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) and Çohu, on behalf of the CSO Coalition of the “Anti-Corruption Week”, supported by the U.S. Embassy in Prishtina, organised a Roundtable Discussion on the topic: “Progress of the Implementation of Anti-Corruption Strategy” at Hotel Sirius. The aim of this discussion was to identify the institutional failures, achievements, and challenges towards adequately implementing the Anti-Corruption Strategy as well as to reflect on institutional readiness in combating corruption and promoting anti-corruption actions. At the beginning of the Discussion, GLPS presented a Policy Report entitled ‘Monitoring the Implementation of Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan 2013-2017’. The report highlights the progress of the institutions falling under Political and Rule of Law sectors, and their efforts towards implementing the measures and actions set in the Strategy which aim to strengthen the institutional integrity, promote good governance values and combat corruption. Panelists in attendance had the chance to examine the current state of affairs and potential reforms that would increase the level of efforts and effectiveness of the implementation of the Anti-Corruption Strategy. In addition, panelists agreed that corruption remains one of the most important challenges in preventing Kosovo to advance its socio-economic development. Furthermore, they highlighted that the fight against corruption requires a sustainable and constructive cooperation among institutions, civil society and public at large. As an end note, they concluded that fight against corruption must be addressed as a priority in order to move forward toward the path of EU Integration and other important mechanisms that Kosovo aspires to be part of. This Roundtable, organised as part of the “Anti-Corruption Week in Kosovo”, gathered representative from all relevant institutions, international community, civil society organisations and media.
