‘Assessing Democracy in the Western Balkans’ to start …

By admin | March 4, 2009

The Research Committee of the Group for Legal and Political Studies has commenced the Assessing Democracy in the Western Balkans research project. This research project is intended to assess the political behaviour and institutions in the Western Balkans countries from the perspective of democracy. In view of that, this research project will capture the extent to which the Dahl’s poliarchic institutions have been accepted by the political systems of these given countries. As such, this research project will develop a hypothetical ground that explains the rationale of the democratization’s degree in these countries, thus the scope to which the democratic level is sourced by the political actors will find an answer. In general, this research project is aimed at examining the democratic rank of the Western Balkans countries with a view towards their potential democratizing dynamic. Working papers produced for this research project will be published by the Group for Legal and Political Studies Press.

Released by the Public Relations Office, as of 30th of March 2009
